1. VITAMIN C

Although most famous for its cold-fighting power vitimin C plays a crucial role in the creation of collagen, that keeps the body tissues, teeth, gums, bones, and blood vessels healthy.  When one takes vitimin C  vital Iron  is easier to absorb.   Vitimin C helps to speed healing after surgery, it has been known to speed the healing of burns, and cuts.  A lack of vitimin C has caused bleeding gums.

Vitamin C provides antioxidant protection for many of the body's important enzymes systems, white blood cells(neutrophils) utilize vitamin C to help produce cytotoxic enzymes which they use to elinate foreign matter.  It also helps strengthen collagen, a major connective protein, Vitamin C plays an important role in the assorption of other vitamins.  Vitamin C is also known as ascorbic acid, cevitamin acid or antiscobutoc acid  Like other water-soluble vitiamins, vitimins C can not be stored in the same quantities as fat-soluble nutrients.  Vitimin C is one of the three antioxidants the other are vitiamins A and E  

Early indications of this deficiency, are fatigue, lassitude, loss of appetite, drowsiness, and insommia, a general run down feeling,  low resistence to infection, and bleeding gums, loosening teeth, pain during movement.

A word of caution Excessive intakeof vitamin C may cause kidney stone formation if not offset by the intake of magnesium, vitamin B6, and water.  Very high doses more than 10 grams taken each day can cause such side effects as diarrhea, excess urination, and rashes.

There are certain vitimins and minerals that you must have every day to stay healthy.  A lot of diseases could be prevented with the correct balance.  Make the commitment to be healthy for life. Today it is not easy but, it can be done. We ourselves as grown ups set the example for our children and their children. What can you as an individual do to protect your family and yourself?
